movies, asthma, ecko from lost, and TOUR!

hello all,

4/5 of one for the team embark on a historic first tour to the west coast tomorrow, july 30th. we leave tomorrow to arrive at our first destination of bozeman, montana on friday. are we leaving way too early and giving ourselves way more time than needed by leaving on wednesday in order to play a show on friday? perhaps.

oh well!

2/5 of one for the team (grace and ian) are currently watching the bourne identity at this given moment. woah! who knew that ecko from lost makes an appearance in this movie?!! i just learned this two minutes ago and am very happy to see his beautiful beautiful man face.

well, well, well. it was sweltering hot today in good old minneapolis. i couldn't even go running because there was an air pollution advisory and i have asthma.

LAME!

hopefully, i will not run into any air advisories on this tour and can actually go running outside. i will overlook smog city usa (aka la) when thinking about this and just accept that so cal = no running for asthmatic.

grace.

EDIT: lost fans everywhere, please excuse the fact that i spelled ecko like the clothing line rather that the correct spelling of the name as echo like "what's that? a voice coming to save me from my months spent stranded in the forest?! oh no, it's only just my ECHO."

Tour Plans for Fall/Winter 2008

Hey Guys,

We've been receiving a lot of notes with questions about where and when are we touring. So, we thought we'd answer them in one super blog.

Tomorrow, we're heading out to the West Coast from Aug 1 to Aug 22. We're sad we couldn't play the likes of San Francisco and New Mexico, are apologies, we just couldn't get a show.

From Sept 12 to Oct 9, we'll be hitting the Northeast up to Vermont, down to North Carolina, then back to the Midwest.

From Oct 15 - Oct 25, we'll be heading out to CMJ in New York and hitting any markets we missed before.

From Nov 10 to Dec 22, we'll be play the Southeast, then going all the way West across the continent to the Southwest, then back home to the Midwest. That's a biggie.

After that, it gets a bit foggy: write a new record, play some colleges, etc.

Let us know if you would like us to come to you or your school!

Ian!

Be That Guy

One for the Team’s "Be That Guy" Contest

Have you ever gone to a show and seen someone wearing the t-shirt of the band that is playing that night? Well, we have. Loads of times. Often, this fashion choice has been labeled as a faux-pas, however, we the people of One for the Team think it is truly sweet. So sweet, in fact, that we will be running a contest encouraging this behavior.

Here's the deal:

For our August tour, if you show up to our show wearing one of our new t-shirts (gold foil or wilderness Ts), you get in for free. No joke.

If you are intrigued by the limitless possibilities of this contest, please check out our MySpace page to buy one or more of our many t-shirt varieties.

Tell your friends, spread the word and please exploit this opportunity.

We Want To See You Build It Up!

Hey Guys,

In celebration of the release of our new record "Build It Up" on iTunes next Tuesday, June 24th (nudge nudge), One for the Team wants to see YOU Build It Up.

We have been busying building it up for months. Now it is your turn. Big time.

We wanna see you write the words "Build It Up" in any way you want.
Here are some suggestions.

-write "Build It Up" in the sand at the beach
-write "Build It Up" on a t shirt
-write "Build It Up" on a foggy mirror in the bathroom
-write "Build It Up" on the sidewalk with chalk

Take of picture of your lovely work and make it the profile pic on your MySpace page. Then, send us a message showing us what you did and we will add you to our top friends. Be creative and have a killer time.

The reward?

Next Tuesday, June 24th we will pick our favorite and send the winner a T-shirt and a CD - FO' FREE!!!

Remember, our new record "Build It Up" is available on iTunes next Tuesday, June 24th for $5.99. It will only be $5.99 until August, so get your digital copy now.

But, if you like the real deal, our CD will be in stores everywhere on August 19.

Remember, if you build it, we will come (to your city on tour). hahaha

Tales From Tour; or How the East Was One.
One for the Team. Brave and sure. Setting out once again to conquer and meet this strange and young land. There is a subway in every heart. It leads to wal-mart, but there is still oddness in these hills.

Of course as always there are many tales of adventure and intrigue on a tour. For now lets just share one. We pulled into the hamlet of Brooklyn New York on a sunny Monday afternoon. It was Memorial Day, in fact. Young Elliot (or, Lil Pimp, or Honey Bear) was manning the wheel. We approached a huge open parking spot in front of what appeared to be a Dominican bar. People milling about outside. As Elliot began backing up, we asked if he needed some eyes to help guide our barge to safety.

"Yes", says he, as he beings to back up.

CRUNCH. Onto the corner of a parked Volvo, In a panic, young E throws the barge into drive, firmly wedging said Volvo onto us, and slamming it into the car parked directly in front.

We get out to survey the damage. It’s not looking good. The Volvo is wedged between our bumper and the body of the van. Firmly. Quite positively. The dudes on the sidewalk are pretty pissed, and yelling, in Spanish. It takes a while to start figuring out what’s going on. Turns out, the Volvo has been abandoned, sitting on the street there for about 2 months. The plates are stripped and noone seems to own it. They actually tell us its cool, because now maybe the cops will haul it off.

And indeed, the cops have now showed up. They help us drive our van off of the Volvo, and immediately are more concerned with the abandoned car than any accident related info. The new Honda that had been bumped in the process belongs to one of the men in front of the bar. He lets us know that hes going to drive it around the block, I don’t know, just to make sure we didn’t somehow fuck it up worse than it looks. He comes back, and everything is running fine. But, there are two small scratches on the bumper. Through his friend and translator, he lets us know that he’d be happy to let it go for $150. After some negotiating, we talk him down to a hondo, figuring that only paying a hundred bucks for this shit storm is actually getting off pretty easy, all things considered. They take us over to the cops, so they can make sure they see us paying them. Cops are like “that’s not police business, we don’t want to know, see, etc”.

100 dollars later, and a little worse for the wear, we head off for a bite to eat, thinking its all in the past. However, when we come back about 2 hours later, the man we had just paid off comes to see us in the bar were playing down the block. He has changed the twenties we gave him into a crisp hundred-dollar bill. He lets us know that we look like we could use it, and hell just have his buddy fix up his bumper for free.

I now officially love New York City even more. Thanks, universe. And in honor of these events, our van has a new name. From now on, if you’re wondering where to find One For The Team, just look for

THE DOMINICAN HONDO !

my head is going to explode from tea.
and in other news, we're in pittsburgh!
it's pretty sweet. bill went to school here so he was showing us around. we went into the tallest gothic building in the world, and lo and behold, crazy tall. then we saw stephen foster's cabin. a bit spooky. i wanted to go inside, but that was just not allowed.

tonight we are going to play at a gallery called modern formations. also tonight the penguins are playing in the stanley cup! so, we are going to play a "go penguins! - a stanley cup pre-show' show this evening, and then proceed to watch the game at the gallery, drink brews and eat moroccan stew and vegetarian chili. rock and roll is awesome. too bad the extent of my hockey knowledge doesn't go beyond mighty ducks and that one movie about the 1980 olympics. 'tevs.

well, that's all i got for now.

It's true, Elliot did hit a car. But, I'm not really going to talk much about that. The last few days have been road-warrior-tastic. Getting from Cleveland to New York in 24 hours is pretty brutal. Yes, yes, it could have been worse, but that drive is just generally unpleasant any way you look at it.

We played at the Trash Bar last night in Brooklyn, which was a lot of fun. Met some interesting people like those one guys who were weird, and those other guys that thought we were weird. You know, just getting along real nice with everyone. We played with a band from Australia called The Time Of The Assassins, which was neat.

Today, we're killing a little time before our show at the Rehab in Manhattan, and we might head over to the MOMA. I hope we do because I enjoy strolling around in air conditioned spaces with shiny things. Grace will probably want to go shopping at some point, which I pretend is really lame, but I actually enjoy.

After the show tonight, we'll probably all-night-it to Pittsburgh or somewhere en route. All the while, I'll be thinking about whether or not the new Indiana Jones will be any good. I doubt it. I just re-watched "Temple of Doom" and was not impressed. So, instead I'll think about Lost's season finale on Thursday.

xoxo,
Ian

Grace - New York City
new york today!
john, ian and i just got lunch. i went to the place with the BEST veggie burgers. they are so yummy. they cook them right in fornt of you and then put them in whole wheat pitas and then you put your own fixings in them. i put in garlic sauce, lettuce, carrots and tomatoes. yum yummy yum.
now we are at the cake shop, and i am nursing my voice with some tea, because i lost my voice a few days ago. yikes! yesterday we made quite an entrance when we arrived at the club in brooklyn. to condense the story, elliot hit a parked car, but then it turned out it was abandoned. but then that car hit another car, which belonged to a guy who was chilling on the street. then nypd pull up. then we paid off the guy 100, and then proceeded to get it back a few hours later when he realized we were a poor band. so all in all, car accident with absolutely NO consequences.

here are some photos from our show at tammany hall last saturday:

Tour Day 3 - Photos

wednesday / may 21, 2008
first day of tour.
yoyoyo

currently ian, elliot and i (grace) are at a coffee shop in rockford, il. we are playing at a bar across the street tonight called kryptonite. ian thought that they misspelled 'absurd' when advertising their 'absurd drink specials' when we were driving up, but alas, 'absurd' is not spelled 'ubsurd'.

anyways.

easy van ride today from minneapolis, and here is what i accomplished:

- 3 naps. not as impressive as it sounds, they all were pretty short. - 1 1/2 episodes of planet earth (from pole to pole and mountains). baby grizzly bears are ridiculously cute. jeez louise! - ate many cookies from a batch ian stole from his mom's house prior to leaving. there were chocolate chip. i'm a harsh cookie judge because i make killer cookies and work in a bakery. but these were really good. - read one newspaper (star tribune) and then proceeded to get sick one time. --saw 2 adventure parks - 1 safari themed and 1 pirate themed. i would rather go to the pirate themed park myself. this one looked like it had a mini golf course as well as a pool. far superior than mini golf all by itself.

our waiter looks a lot like a kid that we all know. also a bit like a teddy bear. or a bit like the baby grizzly bear picture i posted above. elliot is looking up pictures of skulls. the one he showed me was made out of sushi, and that is pretty cool. i think ian is scrambling to finish writing his book right now. he seems tense. bill is walking around. i believe there is a book store involved. john is in the van. i bet he is drinking some sort of soda and reading.

tomorrow we are off to toledo, oh. first we have to drive through chicago. too bad we cannot stop in it, but that won't be for another week or so. but i assure you that when we do i am going to go the this boutique i like and buy a pair of electric blue pants. i bought a pair of purple pants from there but then i got tar on them right on the butt. i wear them anyways.

well, that's all i got. grace
